David J. Rubis, D.D.S., graduated high school from the small Midwest Illinois town of Mt. Olive. His childhood dream was to one day become a dentist. With that dream in mind, he then graduated from Eastern Illinois University, located in Charleston, with a Bachelor of Science. In 1978, he graduated from Northwestern University Dental School fulfilling his childhood dream.

In conjunction with his dental schooling, Dr. Rubis served in the Illinois Air National Guard for six years. While serving as a consultant on the MetLife Dental Insurance Advisory Board for four continuous years, he helped form dental office operating guidelines along with many other duties for their network of 36,000+ dentists. He has also received awards for volunteering for the Donated Dental Services (DDS) Program, a humanitarian service to disabled, elderly, and medically compromised people. He still remains currently active in numerous organizations helping out the community. Dr. Rubis was honored for his ability to deliver dental treatment as a featured dentist for a wedding makeover on the television show Extreme Makeover.

Dr. Rubis and his son currently have eight multidisciplinary practices consisting of a team of general dentists, specialists, and hygienists to provide advanced dental care for the entire family. His special interest is in orthodontics, TMJD, and sleep appliances for snoring and sleep apnea. In an effort to provide his patients with the latest technology in the dental field and the best possible service, Dr. Rubis attends numerous continuing education classes and seminars. Most recently, he is enrolled in the 2010 International Orthodontics Association Instructors Institute.

Dr. Rubis is the proud father of a daughter, Dr. Lisa Rubis, who is a chiropractor at her own practice, ANEW Chiropractic and Physical Therapy. She works in conjunction with the dental office patients' who have temporomandibular disorders. His son, Joseph Rubis, D.D.S., joins his father at many of their different locations. Dr. Joe has an interest in continuing his education in implants, veneers and cosmetic dentistry.

His hobbies include running, traveling, fishing, and taking his Mustang convertible for a spin in the summer. He has also been practicing Bikram Yoga for many years, and looks forward to the Shamrock Shuffle, as that signals the beginning of the spring season.

Dr. Joseph Rubis is a Joliet native who graduated from Joliet Catholic Academy in 1997. In 2001 he graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago and then continued his education at Marquette Dental School. In 2005 he then graduated from Marquette. Dr. Joseph Rubis is the son of David Rubis, D.D.S., and together they work as a team operating several dental offices in the area.

Dr. Rubis regularly participates in courses to improve his craft utilizing modern techniques and materials. He has attended the Nash Institute for cosmetic dentistry, learning from one of the top cosmetic dentists in the nation. He also attended the Misch International Implant Institute and the Rondeau Orthodontic seminars. He regularly attends the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry seminars.

Dr. Joseph Rubis practices conservative and comfortable dental techniques. He currently resides in Plainfield.

Debra Alavi, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Alavi is a dual-degreed in dentistry as a graduate of the University Of Illinois College Of Dentistry and the recipient of a Master of Science in Orthodontics. She has been published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and has received an award for exceptional achievement in the field of Orthodontics. Her two children Alex and Andrew, currently attend college; she enjoys sports, reading and painting.

William M. White, D.D.S.

A graduate of Northwestern University Dental School, White is a member of the American Dental Society, the Illinois Dental Society and the Illinois Valley Dental Society. He believes his Associate Arts degree from the College of Dupage is beneficial to his patients in reconstructing their smiles! He holds a Black Belt in tae kwon do and is active in tournaments in the sport. He and his wife have two children.

Xin Wang, D.D.S., attended the West China University of Medical Sciences completing the five-year Undergraduate Program in Dentistry. She then worked at this particular university for three years as an associate professor and graduate supervisor. Dr. Wang went on to complete the five-year Doctor's Program in Orthodontics. In 1991, she completed her Ph.D. in Oral Sciences.

Dr. Wang continued her dental education when she moved to the Chicago area and attended the University of Illinois. She completed her Master's Degree in Oral Sciences in 2004; then received a Specialty Certificate of Orthodontics from the college of Dentistry at the University of Illinois.

Dr. Wang has published over 20 scientific papers both in China and the United States. She has presented her research archives in many national and international dental conferences.

Dr. Wang has one daughter and enjoys running, traveling, photography, music and sports.

Dr. Charles Patterson graduated from the University of Michigan in 1980 and holds a Masters Degree in Oral Biology and a Master of Business Administration in Management and Economics. He has 27 scientific journal publications and has lectured in Korea and Japan, at the Bethesda National Medical Center and nationally to many professional groups.

Dr. Patterson's education materials and research have been used by the Department of Defense for over 12 years. He has worked with the Veteran's Administration, Naval Coroner's Office, Naval Crime Investigative Service (NCIS) and the Criminal Investigation Division (CID). Dr. Patterson's hard work has earned him the Navy Commendation Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation.

Dr. Patterson is the father of five children. He also plays a "mean" rock and roll guitar!

Dr. Paul Etchison was born in the city of Joliet, Illinois. He spent his childhood growing up in Lockport and graduated from Lockport High School in 1999. Continuing his education, he graduated from University of Illinois Urbana, Champaign, Illinois, in 2004 with a bachelors of science in advertising and a minor in chemistry. He then went on to graduate from the University of Illinois Dental School in 2009. In his senior year he won the Dr. Henry Kubick Award for clinical excellence. Dr. Etchison was one of the ten students who were chosen, based on clinical skills, to spend half of his senior year working at low income clinics in the Chicago area instead of working in school.

Dr. Etchison loves dentistry and his job. He plays softball regularly in the summer and fall and is a White Sox's fan. Dr. Etchison currently resides in Lockport with his wife and they have two beautiful Boston Terriers.
